Imogen Eveson and Samara Tompsett are bringing their unique take on fashion back to Latitude Festival. The Painted House will be a beautiful, immersive installation and a hub for fashion design and sartorial stylings. This year, they’ve invited an inspiring range of contributors into the mix: from purveyors of vintage and radio, to fashion illustrators, bloggers, photographers and make-up artists, with a spotlight on new design talent. The pairing of the two Central Saint Martins graduates is a dynamic one. With an ever-evolving exhibition, workshops, presentations and much more Imogen and Samara explore the Pagan to Occupy theme with a leftfield look at fashion tribes through the ages, seen through the crumbling boudoir of Marie Antoinette.
A host of fashion creators and thinkers will take to the house in style and invite you to be part of the experience. Rag&Bow: The Roaming Vintage Store will be on hand to style and snap you, while ethnic style blogger Samantha Davis takes you on a journey round the world through clothes. Illustrator Nina Chakrabarti invites you to design a fashion fanzine with her, while rising star Rosie McGuinness is deployed round the festival to illustrate Latitude’s material moments; culminating in a pop-up exhibition on the Sunday. Eminent make-up artist and photographer Clare Read and Jenni Hare will be collaborating on a highly-stylised body painting shoot and In the Dark curate bespoke Latitude editions of their “listening” sessions. (Don’t miss their late-night, Friday 13th special!) Over the weekend, fashion editor David Hawkins invites you to create haute couture from Yesterday’s News and Imogen will be speaking to the new designers whose work has been selected to star in the lakeside fashion
show. Their designs will form part of the exhibition and will hopefully inspire some young creatives in the process. Set against an elaborate backdrop of oversized plasterworks, pastel pink topiary clipped trees and crumpled cloud sky, The Painted House will be an experience unlike no other at Latitude.
